Parent & Family Engagement Policy
GLOW Academy’s Family Engagement Policy is created and revised with input from the school’s Parent & Family Engagement Committee, a sub-committee of our School Improvement Team comprised of staff members and parents.
We seek parent input through surveys, family engagement activities, School Improvement Team Meetings, and Volunteer Orientations. Our policy is included in our Student Handbook and is posted on our school’s website. The purpose/vision of our policy is to engage our families as full partners in their children’s academic experiences.

List of GLOW Assurances:
- Host an annual meeting to:
- welcome families
- learn more about the curriculum
- learn how Title 1 funding supports our school
- make families aware of their right to be involved in their child’s education
- make families aware of the critical role they play in their child’s education.
- Offer numerous opportunities for families to interact and work with their children and teachers. These opportunities are offered at flexible times (day and evening) in order to accommodate family schedules. In addition to individual parent-teacher conferences, GLOW Academy will hold Parent University, Family Engagement Events, and opportunities to celebrate student success.
- Dedicate a minimum of 1% of Title 1 funds for Family Engagement Activities
- Develop, share, and sign a School/Student/Parent Compact that outlines shared responsibilities for student achievement.
- Build family understanding of local, state and federal accountability measures.
- Provide families with take home educational materials to support student learning and mastery of standards.
- Provide meaningful, two-way communication with families (Ex/: conferences, email, phone calls, & home visits).
- Provide translation of materials as necessary.
- Survey families and students to receive feedback regarding the development of family engagement activities and areas for improvement.
Parent & Volunteers Visiting School:
- Parents are strongly encouraged to visit and, if possible, volunteer at our school.
- If you would like to have a conference with the staff, please call or email to schedule an appointment.
- Teachers will not be available to conference by phone nor will they be able to meet with you during the instructional day without a scheduled appointment.
- In order to ensure the safety of all students, everyone visiting our school MUST sign in at the office and receive a visitor/volunteer badge prior to going to any other location in our school.
